Senior Citizens Recreation Group

This Group meets every second Friday throughout the year except on Public Holidays and a break between Christmas and Chinese New Year. The Group consists of senior members of the Chung Wah Society. Attendance at these get togethers vary from 50 to 80, depending on the occasion.
The Group’s activities includes Singing, Watching TV shows, Social chit chats, General discussions, Mahjong, Special interest presentations regarding health and wellbeing, Cooking, Sharing a lunch and Volunteering in the NT Chinese Museum.

The group participates in the annual “Biggest Morning Tea” fund raiser for the Cancer Council and many other selected community events/functions.
Founded in May 1992, the group continues to meet each fortnight in celebrating fun, food and friendship. It brings together the senior members of our club to participate in a range of pursuits. The get togethers provide the opportunity for the members to spend quality time with one another. They also establish a valuable rapport between the younger generations. This is important in maintaining continuity of our culture and traditions, thus providing an avenue for members to pass on their knowledge and skills to fellow members and the following generations.
